On November 17, 2009 I bravely and courageously forged my way downtown Chicago alone with my girls. My dad was downtown for a seminar and the only way for us to see him would be for us to go to him. I was hesitant but it turned out to be a great trip. The girls and I headed out on a morning express train to Union Station. The train filled up very quickly but we thankfully got our own seat of four. It was necessary because I plopped Avery in the stroller and fed her breakfast.
Once we got downtown we took the bus to the hotel where my dad was staying. It was so easy. The bus has these hydrolics that dropped it down so I didn't have to that far down with the stroller. Once at the hotel we found the swimming pool. It was NOT KID FRIENDLY at all. Only stairs into the 4ft shallow pool. So, I brought a swim thing for Rori and I ended up holding Avery. Thankfully my babies didn't make me work too hard.

After our pool adventure we headed out again for lunch. One of my favorite deli places is Corner Bakery. It was a little crazy trying to get our food and a seat but once we were seated my little girls ate their lunch, kept most of it on the table and even made me laugh!
Avery had bananas for lunch.

Rori had a pb&j, cheese, strawberries, and chicken pomodorra.

This part of our day was very nerve-racking for me. How in the world would I get two little ones down in one small hotel room? Well thankfully there were room-darkening shades and Rori stayed in her bed and I held Avery till she fell asleep. The girls slept two good hours. It was AWESOME!!

Later in the afternoon my dad caught up with us. We ate pizza together at Pizanos.

All in all it was a great trip downtown. I loved the energy and feel of the city. I can't wait until our next trip downtown.
